The ARIN International Conference Side Event On Gendered Impacts of COVID-19

This side event aims at highlighting the impacts of COVID-19 and responsive measures in the spirit of not leaving anyone behind, and social inclusion.

OBJECTIVES OF THE SIDE EVENT
1. To discuss the relationship between gender and disaster risk reduction
2. To highlight the gendered impacts of COVID-19 from various points of view (National, Diaspora and Global- WHO)
3. Explore priority measures and responses to the gendered impact of COVID-19 towards “Build Back Better” (resilience and livelihood).

Panel Members

Hon. Esther Passaris is a Women Representative Nairobi County-Kenya

Mr. Matthew Mabefam is ARIN’S Regional  Focal point for Diaspora. He is also as Sessional academic at the School of social and political sciences at the University of Melbourne.

Hon. Priscilla Nyokabi is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. She  is currently a Commissioner at National Gender Equality Commission(NGEC).

Ms. Tasiana Mzozo works at WHO AFRO Health Emergencies Programme hub in Nairobi.

Facilitators

Dr. Asenath Maobe is an ARIN Fellow and Post-Doc Gender and Disaster Management at Tomorrows’ Cities,Nairobi Risk Hub.

Charles Tonui is an ARIN  Fellow and Post-Doc Policy Analyst at  Tomorrows’ Cities,Nairobi Risk Hub.

Syprose Ochieng is a Research Assistant at ARIN supporting in Communication and administration.
