Dr. George Mwaniki is a Fellow at ARIN and also currently the lead UNFCCC consultant evaluating the developing countries needs in the implementation of the Paris agreement. He is also a lead consultant for IFAD in climate finance project development, currently supporting several African governments to develop mitigation and adaptation projects geared towards attracting financing from the GCF. He has over 15 years working experience in various large-scale projects and has specialized in various fields including: Climate change mitigation and adaptation, climate Finance, green growth, innovation development and environmental policy among others.
Before becoming an independent consultant, Dr. Mwaniki worked at the National Environment Trust Fund as the director for Business development. He has previously worked for various local, regional and global institutions including: United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), African Center for Technology Studies, Washington State University (WSU), University of Nairobi, United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), among others.
Dr. Mwaniki holds a Doctorate degree in Environmental Science (Atmospheric Sciences) from Washington State University, a Masters degree in Environmental Engineering from Montana Tech of the University of Montana and a BSc. in Environmental and Bio-systems Engineering from the University of Nairobi.
