Yoksa Salmamza Mshelia is a fellow at ARIN. He is a final year PhD Candidate in the Department of Environmental Planning and Management at Kenyatta University (KU), under the sponsorship of German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). His current research focuses on modelling of land use transition and their interaction with the urban microclimate using Geospatial Technology. As an Environmental Scientist, Yoksa specializes more in Land use Dynamics (Trends, and Patterning), Climate Change (Climate Modeling and Governance) and Sustainable Development (Natural Resource Management and Nature Base Solution-NBS in Developmental Programs).

Prior to starting his PhD, Yoksa worked as a Research Assistant with the Australian National University (ANU). He carried out a desk study inventory of Urban Climate Governance in Lagos (Nigeria) and Dar es Salaam (Tanzania). He also worked as a Research Assistant in evaluating a Food Security and Livelihood (FSL) Intervention project implemented by Action Against Hunger in Yobe State, Nigeria. Yoksa holds a Master’s of Environmental Planning and Management from Kenyatta University (Kenya) and a Bachelor’s of Science in Environmental Biology from University of Maiduguri (Nigeria).
